How to write poetry

How to write poetry: Poet Wendy Cope explains what makes a really superb poem

For me it just starts with inspiration which is an idea, I scribble it down (sometimes I can’t make out a word later on but I keep at figuring it out)

Sometimes I get stuck with only a line and I toil over years with finishing it or just include it for a later idea (I have a page of ideas of phrases etc. word play and so on)

Read! There have been times where a paragraph or description in a book has inspired me! Pay attention to Pop culture (I have a poem pertaining to this a bit and it’s one of my humorous ones at least supposed to be)

I  play sort of a game, in which for example I use the songs on an album   (or a bands catalog …all their song titles) as prompts and try to fit them all into a poem (or some sort of creative writing) I used to do with with my vocabulary words in school sometimes.

Want some words for prompts?

I’ll start you with 5

Melancholy

Defiance

Mercurial

turbid

perfunctory

and a BONUS

one of my favorite words…

BOISTEROUS– this is my favorite vocab word from school ever! I still remember the day we were reading our sentences for example and I knew I had an great one. I raised my hand to read it and the teach thought it was used perfectly. (If only I could remember the way I worded the sentence! I do believe it is in one of my poems So you can check that page in the menu.) It was something like the Boisterous roars of thunder.

The Boring Writer

Bad writer...#grammar #writing #tips #writers #education #blogging Poetry is not ‘ALWAYS’ boring or well strike that, not ALL poetry is boring… Haikus I,  well I have a poem on those.THOSE  bore me.

I don’t normally like to read others’ poems as they are personal and everyone has their own style but there is a few I have that were entertaining.

To me if it doesn’t have a rhyme or shall I say rhythm to it then it is boring. Some tell me I rhyme too much, but not all mine rhyme, that’s the way they come out. Besides just wait until I have my poems finalized and can have it published… My poems are like no others~! (or at least the format I want my book in). Oh and those friends poems by others,   I plan on doing a friend section for my book (be I publish it or a company does) so you will see not all are boring.

They also forgot bad grammar, and punctuation as well as run on sentences.

actually some people who blog… their format is as a journal or you can think of blogs as a digital journal (just for the world to see) Think some have a Travel niche which means it’s a travel journal I have 3 blogs with a niche.. Entertainment, Crafts & this writing one… in a sense I do see them all as a journal as you can look back and see what your writing was like when you started it, and how it has currently evolved.

Write every day, read books on how to write and read any thing friends and family may have written!
